What is Neurosurgery?
Neurosurgery involves the diagnosis and treatment of diseases or conditions
that affect the brain, spine, spinal cord, and nerves. Common conditions treated include
spinal stenosis, herniated discs, spinal fractures (including those due
to trauma and osteoporosis), spinal slippage or spondylolisthesis, brain
aneurysm, vascular malformations (AVMs) and carotid artery disease,
brain tumors, seizures, carpal tunnel syndrome, and Parkinson's disease. Many conditions
can be managed either non-surgically (also referred to as "medical" or "conservative" treatement)
or surgically.
